LET'S GET RACING
If it’s your first race or you’re just new to the AMSA Off-road series, this guide will help you decide what class is right for you. We try to make the process as easy as possible so you can show up ready to race and have a great ride! Keep reading to know what to expect at any type of race within our series.

RACE DAY: WHAT TO EXPECT
Race day can be intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. We have detailed guides to help you know what to expect on race day and what the requirements are for your bike and gear to prepare for race day.

SATURDAY | A/B
A CLASSES: 2.5HR CUT-OFF | B CLASSES: 2HR CUT-OFF
There are 16 classes on Saturday, please choose one that best fits your skill level. See class descriptions below and corresponding number plate colours. Please read the complete RULEBOOK for full details.

Mens PRO
A-LOOP | 13+ | 2.5HR CUT-OFF
Elite class with the highest skilled racers. This
class will now be open and the competition
committee will have the ability to approve Pro
Status.

EXPERT
A-LOOP | 13+ | 2.5HR CUT-OFF
Expert racers working towards Pro.
Experience from intermediate or another A
class.

VET MASTER
A-LOOP | 30+ | 2.5HR CUT-OFF
This is a speed based class, meant for our fastest
and highest level of skilled vets. This is the class
that EX Pro and Expert racers can move to and
still be competitive.

LADIES PRO
A-LOOP | 13+ | 2.5HR CUT-OFF
Ladies elite class with the highest skilled racers. This
class will now be open and the competition
committee will have the ability to approve Pro
Status. Racers must first ride in the Ladies Expert class in order to advance.

A-LOOP | 30+ | 2.5HR CUT-OFF
Advanced skilled veteran aged riders that have
not formerly competed in Expert or Pro.

+40A
A-LOOP | 40+ | 2.5HR CUT-OFF
Advanced skilled veteran aged riders that have
not formerly competed in Expert or Pro.

INTERMEDIATE
A-LOOP | 13+ | 2.5HR CUT-OFF
High skill level, working to advance to Expert.
Must have racing experience.

LADIES EXPERT
A-LOOP | 13+ | 2.5HR CUT-OFF
Restricted to females with advanced skills.
Racers must first ride in the Ladies
Intermediate class in order to advance.

Our Riders who are 50+.

B-LOOP | 60+ | 2HR CUT-OFF
Our Legend Riders who are 60+.

Veteran aged riders with experience that have
not formerly competed in Pro, Expert, or
Vetmaster.

LADIES VET
B-LOOP | 30+ | 2HR CUT-OFF Our veteran female riders who are 30+ with experience

B-LOOP | 40+ | 2HR CUT-OFF
Veteran aged riders with experience that have
not formerly competed in Pro, Expert, or
Vetmaster.

JUNIOR
B-LOOP | 13+ | 2HR CUT-OFF
Medium skill set with some race experience.
Racers working towards intermediate.

LADIES INTER
B-LOOP | 13+ | 2HR CUT-OFF
Restricted to female riders with experience or
those advancing from the ladies Junior class.

BEGINNER
B-LOOP | 13+ | 2HR CUT-OFF
New racers only with limited experience. Current and former Kids Expert class racers are NOT eligible. Minimum 85cc bike
SUNDAY | Kids/Ladies
THESE CLASSES HAVE VARIED CUT-OF TIMES.
There are 10 classes on Sunday. Please choose one that best fits your skill level. See class descriptions below and corresponding number plate. Please read the complete RULEBOOK for full details.

KIDS EXPERT
E-LOOP| -16 | 1.5 HR CUT-OFF
This class is for experienced pre-teen racers
working towards racing on the Adult day. Anyone 17 years on January 1st is no longer
eligible.

SPORTSMAN
E-LOOP| 16+ | 1.5 HR CUT-OFF
An introductory class for the new racer who is
not comfortable with the B loop. It will be on
the kids expert loop. This is not a trophy class
and will not be included in the championship.
The Sportsman Class is meant to be a stepping
stone to move to the Saturday races and not a
permanent place.

KIDS INTER
E-LOOP| -16 | 1.5 HR CUT-OFF
65cc and up. Kids who are ready to try more
difficult terrain.

LADIES JUNIOR
E-LOOP| 13+ | 1.5 HR CUT-OFF
Restricted to female riders who have some
experience. Can cross over with Ladies
Intermediate for one season before
advancement to the higher class.

LADIES BEGINNER
D-LOOP | 13+ | 1 HR CUT-OFF
Restricted to beginner female riders.

KIDS JUNIOR
D-LOOP | -16 | 1 HR CUT-OFF
65cc and up. Kids who have racing experience. Will be limited to 19”-16” tires, No full size bikes allowed in this class.

KIDS BEGINNER
D-LOOP | -16 | 1 HR CUT-OFF
First time clutch users and first times racers.
Manual clutch bike must be used. Will be
limited to 19”-16” tires, No full size bikes
allowed in this class.
SUNDAY | PEEWEES
ALL CLASSES HAVE 30 MINUTE CUT-OFF TIMES.
Peewees race on their own course with other racers around or close the same skill level. See class descriptions below. Please read the complete RULEBOOK for full details.

peewee EXPERT
C-LOOP | 10 & Younger | 30 MIN CUT-OFF
Little rippers with some riding/race experience, up to maximum age of 10 years old as of January 1st of the current race year..
Examples of recommended bikes include:
•Electric bikes: OSET MX, STACYC 20” wheel size, KTM/HUSQ/GASGAS EE5 equivalent
•Gas powered bikes including:
➔ 2 Stroke (2T)- KTM/HUSQ/GASGAS 50cc-SENIOR MODELS**
➔ 4 Stroke (4T)- Honda 70/110, Yamaha PW80 and TTR110

peewee INTERMEDIATE
C-LOOP | 10 & Younger | 30 MIN CUT-OFF
Little rippers with some riding/race experience, up to maximum age of 10 years old as of January 1st of the current race year..
Examples of recommended bikes include:
•Electric bikes: OSET MX, STACYC 20” wheel size, KTM/HUSQ/GASGAS EE3 equivalent
•Gas powered bikes including:

peewee BEGINNER
C-LOOP | 6 & Younger | 30 MIN CUT-OFF
Little rippers with limited skill set/experience, up to a maximum age of 6 years old as of January 1st of the current race year..
No training wheels permitted, must be able to balance under their own power.
Examples of recommended bikes include:
• Electric bikes: OSET 12.5, STACYC 12” and 16” wheel size
•Gas powered bikes including Yamaha PW50 & TTR50, Honda CRF50, Suzuki DRZ50
IT'S RACE DAY!
Sign in will be your first stop of the day. It usually takes place between 8:30 – 10am. Be sure to bring your helmet with you to sign in. After that here is what you can expect from your race day…

RIDERS MEETING 9:15am
Usually held at the promoters tent. A horn will sound indicating the start. Each group (Sat, Sun, Peewee etc...) will have a riders meeting. It is important every rider attend, no matter the skill level. If you are the first class riding you might want to show up with all your gear on, ready to ride.

PARADE LAP 9:30am
Not every class will have a parade lap. All Peewee classes will join in the parade lap of their course prior to lining up. If you are a ladies beginner, kid's junior or beginner you might have a parade lap depending on your course. This will be communicated to you at the riders meeting.

RACE START 10:00am
At race sign in you will need to keep an eye out for a board with the race schedule. This is where you will find the approximate start time for your class as well as the line up order. You will want to be geared up and ready to ride well before this start time. Classes will start in 30secs - 1min intervals.

AWARDS - 4:00pm
A horn will sound to indicate the awards kick off. Results should be posted before this time. If you placed in your class, you will want to stick around for your trophy and podium photos. Even if you didn't place, you might want to hang around for your chance at some amazing prizes from our sponsors.

NEED TO KNOW
A few tips and tricks to make your first or 100th race a little easier. We strongly suggest that all new racers start by reading the rule book to know what is expected of racers and what you can expect from your race.

READ THE
RULE BOOK
Every racer is responsible to read the rulebook prior to racing.

RIDING
GEAR
You will need a Dot rated helmet, riding boots, gloves, goggles, and it is highly recommended to have a chest protector, knee guards/braces, hydration pack, and tool pack. Although there are sweepers during the race, carrying a few specific tools can be the difference between finishing and a DNF.

GAS
Know your bike and it’s capabilities. Bring a gerri can with fuel if you think you will need a pit stop. At the riders meeting promoters will advise where fuel can be left or transported for remote pits. Hare-scramble are under 35km courses that you complete as many laps as possible in the time and Cross-countries are courses up to a 100km loop that you complete only once.

REGISTRATION &
INSURANCE
Be aware that all bikes need to have valid registration and insurance. Promoters will apply for a headlight and tail light exemption from the registrar to be applied during the event. At all other times (before/after the race) bikes will require a headlight and taillight to be deemed legal and compliant with the OHV Traffic Safety Act. Neither AMSA nor Promoters will be policing this, it is the responsibility of the individual rider. If a rider chooses not to be compliant with the law, they could end up with fines.

NOISE
Bikes should have a silencer that is less than 96dbs and has a spark arrestor. Event promoters will be conducting random noise test to ensure compliance.

TREAD
LIGHTLY
Travel responsibly on designated trails.
Respect the right of others including private property, recreational trail users, and campers.
Educate yourself by obtaining maps and regulations from public agencies.
Avoid sensitive areas such as meadows, lakeshores, wetlands, and streams, unless on designated routes equipped with bridges.
Do your part by leaving the area better than you found it, and join a local group of enthusiasts.
