WHO IS AMSA?
The Alberta Motorsports Association off-road (AMSA) is the governing body that facilitates the management of the racing series. To put it simply. WE ARE RACERS, organizing a series for the riders of Alberta. The board of directors are all racers and event promoters themselves, doing it for the love of the sport.
PART 1 – We take all the licence fees (aka membership money) from all the riders who join from across Alberta and we pool it together to pay for the costs associated with running a series. Our focus is to make sure the clubs are hosting sustainable events so the future of offroad can be maintained. This includes things like insurance, scoring, first aid equipment, banquet etc.
PART 2 – We listen to what you the rider wants from a race and a series as a whole. We do this by hosting AGM’s and amending the rulebook. Based on the rulebook we have created event guidelines for promoters. The membership has asked for consistency and that’s what we are trying to give you across every event in the series.
PART 3 – We work with clubs and individuals that want to host a race. They choose the format (Hare-scramble, cross-country, or hybrid) and we assist them with race day format based on years of feedback from the membership. We assist them financially to cover costs, and this is taken from the membership money. Promoters work hard to create race loops based on the class structure and event guidelines. Everyone involved are stewards of the land and must adhere to environmental requirements for hosting events. We are all committed to promoting a positive image of the sport of off-road motorcycling.
THIS SERIES IS RUN BY RIDERS, FOR RIDERS. When you purchase a licence, you become part owner in this series. Many hands make for light work and it’s time we all take ownership.
